Drew Estate Tabak Especial Dulce Cigar Review

Drew Estate Tabak Especial Dulce Cigar Review

Some cigars are made for the end of long days. Others? They’re made for quiet mornings, when the house is still, and the only sound is your coffee mug hitting the table.

That’s exactly how I found the Drew Estate Tabak Especial Dulce, one slow Sunday, sipping black coffee on the deck while the kids were still asleep. For me, this cigar felt like it belonged in that moment.

Drew Estate has carved out its own lane with coffee-infused cigars, and the Tabak Especial line sits right in the sweet spot. If the Negra is bold espresso in cigar form, the Dulce (or Especial Dulce) is your smooth, creamy cappuccino.

The Breakdown

Profile: Mild to Medium (classic coffee-infused profile)

Wrapper: Shade Grown Connecticut (light, creamy)

Binder: Nicaraguan

Flavor Highlights: Creamy coffee, gentle milk chocolate, smooth tobacco with subtle sweetness, one of the best coffee-flavored cigars you’ll find.

Price Point: Singles usually $10–12 | Boxes of 24 around $190–230

Appearance & First Impressions

Tabak Especial Dulce Initial Impressions

The Dulce doesn’t jump out at you; it really does ease you in. That shade-grown Connecticut wrapper has a soft golden tan color, smooth feel, and just enough tooth to give it character. My sample felt firm, well-capped, and free of soft spots.

On the cold draw, I picked up creamy coffee with just a touch of milk chocolate. Nothing sharp, nothing heavy, more like smelling a latte first thing in the morning. And the shaggy foot? A nice touch that gives you filler flavors before the wrapper joins in.

First Third – Sweet & Creamy Start

Tabak Especial Dulce first third

From the first puff, the coffee-infused nature of this stick comes through right away. Sweet coffee and milk chocolate hit the palate, rounded out with a little creamy tobacco in the background. It reminded me of taking that first sip of coffee with just a splash of cream.

The draw was wide-open and easy, and the smoke rolled out thick and creamy. It felt like the cigar was setting the pace for the morning, slow, smooth, and steady. Even more importantly, relaxing.

Second Third – Staying Steady

Moving into the middle, the sweetness settled down a bit. Coffee stayed the main player, but it shifted more toward a creamy latte than a sweet cappuccino. The chocolate notes drifted in and out, keeping it interesting without ever overpowering.

Construction held up really well, lean burn line, solid ash that dropped around an inch at a time, and a draw that never wavered. Nothing fancy here, just an easy ride.

Final Third – Morning Coffee to the End

Tabak Especial Dulce final third

As I got into the last third, the sweetness faded into the background, leaving a little more cocoa and straight espresso-like coffee. Strength never really climbed past mild-to-medium, and the finish stayed smooth all the way down.

Even at the nub, it kept its balance. No bitterness, no harshness, just the same creamy coffee vibe that started the cigar, only with a touch more depth, with just as much sweetness on the lips as the second third.

Construction and Performance

Exposed Foot

If there’s one thing Drew Estate delivers time after time, it’s consistency. The Tabak Especial Dulce had an even burn, great draw, and steady smoke output. I never had to relight or babysit it, just light, sip your coffee, and enjoy.

Price & Value

At around $10–12 a stick, the Dulce isn’t bargain-bin, but it earns its keep. For flavored sticks, especially coffee flavored cigars, this one feels refined and worth the money.

This isn’t a cigar I’d grab for every random Tuesday, but for the right mornings. Absolutely. Think quiet Sundays, early starts on the deck, or just times you want something easygoing to pair with coffee.

Final Verdict: Tabak Especial Dulce

Final Verdict

This one impressed me. I usually lean toward traditional sticks or bolder blends like the Negra, but the Especial Dulce hit different. It’s smooth, creamy, and flavorful without being over the top.

The kind of cigar that enhances your morning instead of competing with it, a great cigar from Jonathan Drew’s Tabak Especial line that shows why Dulce has such a following.

If you’ve ever been curious about coffee-flavored cigars, this is one I’d recommend trying. It’s approachable, mellow, and pairs perfectly with that first cup of the day. A great cigar to keep around for those mornings when you want to slow down and take it easy.

Final Score

Category Rating (0–10)

Overall Rating ⭐ 7.5 / 10

(Equivalent to about an 82–83 out of 100 on the traditional cigar scale.)

Smooth, creamy, and easy to pair with coffee. Not your everyday stick, but an excellent “weekend reward” cigar that deserves humidor space.

Buy Tabak Especial Dulce

If you’re looking for something to pair with your morning brew, I’d say grab a couple of these and keep them in the humidor. That’s where the Dulce shines. And if you like your coffee (and your cigars) stronger, check out my Tabak Especial Negra Review. Same DNA, just darker and bolder.
