Cigar Intel

For longtime cigar smokers, Brazilian wrappers often bring back memories of the original CAO Brazilia. That connection is no accident. Before launching Oz Family Cigars, Tim Ozgener helped build CAO into one of the industry's most recognizable boutique brands, and Brazilian tobacco played an important role in that story. With Maracana, Ozgener revisits those roots, not by recreating an old cigar, but by building something entirely new.

Handcrafted at My Father Cigars Honduras, Maracana marks the first time the Garcia family has worked with a Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper. Beneath that dark wrapper is a carefully balanced blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos that delivers richness without sacrificing refinement.

Named after Brazil's legendary Maracanã Stadium, the cigar pays tribute to Ozgener's lifelong love of soccer while celebrating the distinctive character of Brazilian tobacco. The result is a blend that feels both familiar and modern, offering the deep sweetness and earthy richness Brazilian wrappers are known for while showcasing the craftsmanship of My Father Cigars Honduras.

If you've enjoyed the thoughtful blending and storytelling behind brands like Crowned Heads, Maracana is another excellent example of the craftsmanship and creativity that continue to define today's boutique cigar movement.

Tasting Notes

Maracana opens with notes of cedar, cocoa, and black pepper before richer notes of leather, earth, roasted coffee, and baking spices develop. The Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper adds a subtle natural sweetness that carries through the finish, creating a profile that's rich, balanced, and remarkably smooth without becoming overpowering.
