Cigar Intel

For Jon Huber, Moonflower became something deeply personal during the 14 months it took to develop the blend. Around that same time, his wife, Laura, introduced him to the moonflower plant, a flower that blooms after sunset and has long been associated with hope, renewal, and new beginnings. The idea stayed with him, eventually becoming the inspiration behind both the cigar's name and the story it tells.

Moonflower also marks Crowned Heads' first regular-production collaboration with Jaime Garcia and My Father Cigars in more than a decade. Rather than simply returning to a familiar factory, the project celebrates a partnership built on years of trust, shared craftsmanship, and a mutual commitment to making exceptional cigars.

Crafted entirely from Garcia-grown tobaccos grown in Estelí, Jalapa, and Condega beneath a dark Nicaraguan Corojo wrapper, Moonflower is a true Nicaraguan puro from the ground up. The smoke opens with cedar and black pepper before richer layers of baking spice, roasted nuts, earth, and natural sweetness begin to emerge. Medium to full-bodied, it develops gradually without ever becoming harsh, rewarding smokers who appreciate complexity over raw strength.

The 6 x 46 Corona Gorda showcases the blend's balance and complexity beautifully. Its slimmer ring gauge concentrates the flavors while allowing the cigar's transitions to shine, making it an excellent choice for smokers who enjoy a more nuanced, refined smoking experience.

For Huber, Moonflower represents much more than wrapper, binder, and filler. It's a reminder that the best cigars, like the best relationships, take time, patience, and a shared passion for the craft.

Tasting Notes

Moonflower opens with cedar and cracked black pepper before richer notes of baking spice, roasted nuts, earth, and natural sweetness begin to unfold. The profile stays balanced throughout the smoke, gradually building in richness while remaining smooth, refined, and never overpowering. The result is a cigar that rewards slow smoking and continues to evolve from first light to the final third.
