Cigar Intel

When Crowned Heads founder Jon Huber began developing the blend in late 2013, he approached Jaime Garcia of My Father Cigars with a specific goal in mind.

He wanted to create a cigar that captured the rich chocolate, leather, spice, and earth he loved in the Padron 1926 and 1964 Anniversary Series, but at a price that made those flavors accessible to more smokers and made it easier to enjoy more often. The answer was a Nicaraguan blend wrapped in a dark Mexican San Andrés wrapper, handcrafted at the My Father factory in Estelí.

Go ahead and give it a shot, light up a Jericho Hill alongside a Padron Anniversary cigar and compare them for yourself. While the two cigars are certainly not identical, the comparison helps explain what Crowned Heads was chasing: bold flavor, excellent balance, and premium construction without the premium price tag.

The OBS measures 4¾ x 52, making it one of the shorter, punchier sizes in the lineup. The shorter format concentrates the flavors, opening with black pepper and cedar before developing into richer notes of espresso, dark cocoa, earth, leather, and baking spice. A subtle natural sweetness ties everything together, creating a smoke that stays balanced from first light to the nub.

Tasting Notes

The smoke opens with cedar and cracked black pepper before richer flavors of espresso, dark cocoa, leather, and earth take center stage. Baking spice lingers on the finish while a subtle natural sweetness keeps the profile balanced from beginning to end.
