Cigar Intel

The Madison Toro from Big Sky Cigar Co. is part of the brand's Montana River Series, a collection inspired by some of the state's most iconic trout waters. This one takes its name from the Madison River, a legendary fly-fishing destination that winds through southwest Montana before joining the Jefferson and Gallatin rivers to form the Missouri.

The blend pulls tobacco from across Nicaragua, using long-fillers grown in Jalapa, Condega, Estelí, and the volcanic soils of Ometepe. Those tobaccos are held together by a San Andrés binder and finished with an oily Habano wrapper.

Handmade at the TACASA factory in Nicaragua under the direction of Cuban-American master blender Carlos Sanchez, the Madison lands at medium-plus in strength with a profile that's earthy, woody, and distinctly spicy. It's a great representation of Big Sky's approach: straightforward blends with plenty of character and a connection back to Montana.

Big Sky also donates a portion of proceeds from each box sold to Warriors & Quiet Waters, a Montana-based nonprofit that uses fly fishing and outdoor experiences to support post-9/11 veterans and their families.

Tasting Notes

Cedar and earth lead the profile with a warm cinnamon spice developing alongside them. Crushed red pepper adds some extra bite and keeps the cigar lively, balancing the deeper earthy flavors with a lingering spice through the finish.
