Cigar Intel

The Cryptid from Big Sky Cigar Co. takes its name from one of Montana's stranger local legends. Beneath the waters of Flathead Lake, something has supposedly been lurking for generations. More than 100 sightings of the so-called Flathead Lake Monster have been documented, and whether you believe the stories or not, Big Sky decided it was worthy of its own cigar.

The blend is appropriately dark. A Mexican San Andrés wrapper surrounds Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos, creating a medium-to-full profile with plenty of richness and earthy character. At 5 x 60, the Cryptid is a stout Gordo with a slower, cooler burn and plenty of smoke production.

It's one of the bolder cigars in the Big Sky portfolio and a natural pick for smokers who gravitate toward San Andrés wrappers and darker flavor profiles.

Tasting Notes

Earth and cocoa lead the profile with baking spices and roasted almond adding some depth as the cigar develops. There's enough richness from the San Andrés wrapper to keep things dark and satisfying while the underlying nuttiness helps round out the heavier flavors.
